Internship FAQ


Can an internship be done during the semester?

  • Students who are eligible to graduate and are exempt from all courses except the graduation project can do an internship during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Students who continue to take courses can do an internship by working at least 3 days a week.

Can an internship be done during the midterm break?

  • It can be done.

Can an internship be done during the summer school?

  • An internship can be done by working at least 3 days a week during the summer school.

Can an internship be done during the final and make-up exams?

  • An internship cannot be done during the final exam weeks. It can be done if the student does not have an exam during the make-up (bütünleme) period.

Will there be a loss of a week due to days falling on the holiday?

  • For working days falling on the holiday, an equal number of days are added to the internship end date.

Are the previous internships of students who come to the department through vertical transfer accepted?

  • No.

Can a graduate student who has not completed their internships take the single-course exam?

  • No, the student must have completed their internships in order to take the single-course exam.

Does the company/institution where I will do my internship have to be a computer engineer?

  • If a software internship is to be done, there must be a computer or software engineer to work with in the department where the internship will be done. If a hardware internship is to be done, the person to work with can also be an electrical/electrical-electronics/electronics-communications engineer.

What is expected from hardware internships?

  • As a committee, our expectation from hardware internships is that the student will take part in jobs that are as useful as possible for him/her. In other words, it is not preferred that the student constantly takes part in non-educational jobs such as formatting during the entire internship period. Hardware internships based mostly on computer networks and embedded systems are expected from students.

What is expected from software internships?

  • In software internships, the student is definitely expected to take part in a software project. For this reason, the student should be able to learn as much knowledge and know-how as possible from the company in both the software engineering and programming fields and reflect these in the internship report.

How should the internship report be?

  • The internship reports should be entered as weekly summaries in terms of content and detailed in the following headings. The content of the notebooks should be original, and the sources used should definitely be specified. All pictures and tables in the notebook should be in the format determined by the Computer Engineering Department.

When should I submit the internship notebook?

  • You must submit the internship notebooks approved by the relevant institution where you did your internship to the Internship Committee within 30 days at the latest from the start date of the education semester that begins after the internship.

How long can I do an internship at an institution?

  • Internships cannot exceed 8 weeks at the same institution or organization.

How many days can I do an internship at a minimum?

  • You can do your internship for at least 10 working days at a time.

Who should work in a multi-disciplinary internship?

  • In the tasks to be shown in multi-disciplinary internships, a graduate from a department (field) other than computer/software engineering and similar fields must do a job other than software or computer engineering.

How many days should a multi-disciplinary internship be, how many days should be written on the form?

  • You can only fill out the multi-disciplinary work form once for at least 10 working days.

Is it mandatory to fill in the Workplace IBAN Number section in the Internship Application and Acceptance Form?

  • The Workplace IBAN Number information in the “Workplace Information” section of the “Student Internship Application and Acceptance Form” will be filled in if students receive a salary during the internship. For students who do an unpaid internship, it will be sufficient to write “Free” next to the Workplace IBAN number.

How should the “Premium Payment Days in the Internship Period Months” section of the Student Internship Application and Acceptance Form be filled in?

  • This section asks for information on how many days you will do your internship in which month during your internship. For example, if you start your 20-day internship on March 10, you will have done an internship for 15 days in March and 5 days in April.

Where can I get the document that says “Internship is mandatory”?

  • You can get it from the Student Affairs office.

What should I do for company payments after the internship?

  • If the intern student will not be paid by the workplace or if the workplace does not want to benefit from the state contribution, there is no need to fill in the “Devlet Katkısı İşletme Bilgi Formu”. If the workplace will pay the intern student and wants to benefit from the state contribution to be paid to them for this, the form will be filled out and submitted to the “Dekanlık Öğrenci İşleri Staj Sigorta İşlemleri sorumlusu” within the last week of the internship period.

After the internship is over, you must deliver your pay slip or bank receipt to the “Öğrenci İşleri Staj Sigorta İşlemleri sorumlusu”.
